Summer is just around the corner and with that in mind we will be exploring some of the numerous and exciting events taking place across Medway. From Dickensian celebrations to the grand Platinum Jubilee, there are lots of upcoming events which will have the whole family out celebrating in the sun.
To celebrate the historic milestone that her Royal Majesty has achieved, the River Medway will be host to a spectacular array of different ships and vessels. The pageant will climax with the 'Great Cacophony' where the boats will sound their horns, with steam locomotives from the Historic Dockyard and a gun salute from Fort Amherst. There will be plenty of things to see and do in the area as we come together to celebrate such an important event.
A Celebration of Dickens – Saturday, 4 and Sunday, 5 June.
Alongside the Jubilee will be a celebration of Dickens as well as the Jubilee. So much is on offer from character parades, live music performances to poetry and comedy performances. Wander the streets of Historic Rochester as if it were the Victorian era and immerse yourself in the many performances on offer.
This year's gaming festival offers gamers a chance to experience new and retro games, join interactive exhibits and competitions and plenty more. Held at the Historic Dockyard you can delve and immerse yourself in countless genres of video games. All are welcome from novice to pro there is a video game for everybody.
Where is better to watch a spectacular theatre performance than surrounded by ancient history. Watch one of Shakespeare's most iconic plays Othello or Orson Welles famous The Importance of Being Earnest. Famous plays surrounded by famous surroundings, how better to spend a family day.
